Tribal Mask Series

When I lived in New York City at 81st St and 2nd Ave I would go over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art every Tuesday and wander around - it was pay what you wish day. When I came upon the Michael C. Rockefeller exhibit of tribes from around the world I was moved by some of the tribal masks and thought they'd make a good puppet. I always carry a sharpie with me but I had no paper. I went to the front desk and grabbed a bunch of brochures that had the floor plan of the museum on it I then proceeded to draw about 40 masks. When I got home and looked at them, I liked the background floor plan of the museum in the background. That started what I now call the Tribal Mask Series.
